My 2nd trip to Jakarta

Sunda Kelapa, better known as Pasar Ikan (meaning fish market) is located at the mouth of the Ciliwung River. The fish catch of the day was auctioned in the early morning at the old fish market. The street leading to it was lined with shops selling all sorts of shells, dehydrated turtles, lobsters and mostly everything the seafarer might need. This 500-year-old harbor area was a vital link to markets of the outside world for the 15th century kingdom of Pajajaran. It was formerly the harbor town of Sunda Kelapa where the Portuguese traded with the Hindu Kingdom of Pajajaran in the early 16th century. Since than this port has belonged to the portuguese and Dutch.
The old port of Sunda Kelapa has more sailing ships - the magnificent Makassar schooners - than you ever thought existed. These brightly painted ships are an important means of transport and freight delivery between the capital and the outer islands. They also provide one of the most spectacular sights in Jakarta.
For a fee, old men in row boats will take you out for a closer look at the ships. Don't hit your head on the mooring ropes or gangplanks, and don't be too surprised if you get hit from above by rubbish thrown from the decks. If you get out as far as the Palau Seribu (Thousand Islands) in the Bay of Jakarta, you'll probably see some of these majestic schooners under sail.
Sunda Kelapa adalah nama sebuah pelabuhan dan tempat sekitarnya di Jakarta, Indonesia. Pelabuhan ini terletak di kelurahan Penjaringan, kecamatan Penjaringan, Jakarta Utara.
Meskipun sekarang Sunda Kelapa hanyalah nama salah satu pelabuhan di Jakarta, daerah ini sangat penting karena desa di sekitar pelabuhan Sunda Kelapa adalah cikal-bakal kota Jakarta yang hari jadinya ditetapkan pada tanggal 22 Juni 1527. Kala itu Sunda Kelapa milik Pajajaran yang beragama Hindu direbut oleh pasukan Islam Jawa dari Demak dan Cirebon. Walaupun hari jadi kota Jakarta baru ditetapkan pada abad ke-16, sejarah Sunda Kelapa sudah dimulai jauh lebih awal, yaitu pada abad ke-12

Born on 9.27 pm 18-Jun-07 at Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital.
Normal delivery. 2.73 kg.

Having fun with her cousin
On the 18th last week, Tasneem turns to 18 months old. Day after day seeing her growing makes us feel so proud. She is now able to tell us where are her hands, eyes, nose, legs, stomach, head, hair, mouth & teeth.
